CAS-MI Extends Polymer & Coating Testing Capabilities

CAS-MI Laboratories extends their coating and polymer problem solving capabilities with the purchase of two new state-of-the-art instruments. CAS-MI's paints and coatings analytical experts specialize in deformulation (reverse engineering), material and contaminant identification. With the acquisition of a new Gas Chromatograph/Mass Selective Detector (GC/MS) CAS-MI's scientists can better identify and quantify volatile components, in addition to enhancing reliability and lowering detection limits when analyzing complex matrices. By better understanding of coatings' components, CAS-MI's staff offers solutions to difficult issues such as product failures or competitive product investigations.

In addition, CAS-MI Laboratories recently installed a Multi-Functional Pyrolysis System, enhanced with a new Microbalance. CAS-MI's plastic and polymer experts can now better characterize and quantify product's components and additives from as small as 50 micrograms. The Pyrolysis GC/MS allows for quantitative analysis by providing percentages of components. This is useful data when helping companies troubleshoot "good" versus "bad" batches, characterize competitor's products, and solve challenging manufacturing issues.

Both additions of state-of-the-art instrumentation reflect CAS-MI Laboratories' commitment to providing accurate and reliable solutions to the paints, coatings and polymer industries.
